When I was pregnant, I was given May 3 2002 as my due date. For health reasons, my baby was born on March 22nd, 2002. Will she have Taurean traits since she should have been a Taurus? Your baby's astrological make up is determined by the positions of all of the planets at her exact date, time and place of birth - it makes no difference that she was born a little early. She may well have some Taurean traits in her personality - perhaps a Taurus Ascendant or a Taurus Moon, but the chances of this are neither increased nor decreased by her having had an original due date in May. I tend to believe that a soul selects its own 'date of birth'; when premature births occur for health reasons, as your daughter's did, this is almost certainly the case. When does Mars transit through Leo? Mars will next enter Leo on roughly the 24th June 2004, and will transit through the sign for several weeks, leaving and entering Virgo on 10th August 2004. Any babies born during that period of time will have Mars in Leo. How do astrologers predict the future? Good question, and the answer depends upon whether one believes in predetermined fate or not. I do not - I believe in free will (as do most western astrologers) and so I do not pretend to be able to 'predict the future' in a fortune-telling sense. What western astrology can and does do, however, is to analyse forthcoming planetary trends and energies that may affect your life, and advise you on how to make the most of them -- not at all the same thing as telling you that x,y,z WILL happen to you next Tuesday.... There are many methods used in predictive astrology, but the two most common are the use of progressions and transits. Progressions are way of symbolically aging a natal chart, to give a picture of one's inner growth through the years. There are many types of progressions, but the most commonly used are secondary progressions, which 'age' the natal chart by one day for each year of your life. As the chart ages, the inner planets will gradually move around the chart, sometimes changing signs or houses, sometimes making new aspects to one another - all of these moves tell the astrologer something new about how that personality has progressed as the subject has grown up. The outer planets move so slowly that there is often not very much movement during a lifetime. Transits fill the detail into the overview provided by progressions. Put simply, transits are a map of the current planetary positions at any given time. If we were to look at the positions today, right here, right now, we could 'overlay' the current positions onto a natal chart, and see how the planets today are contacting the positions they held at birth. Each contact is an energy trigger of some kind, and we can analyse how the subject is likely to react to these energies, and what he or she can do to make the most of them. The inner planets move fast, and make repeated transit cycles over the course of a few months or years; the outer planets move much more slowly, but the contacts they do make are often very significant. Tying these things together, the astrologer can gain a good insight into the energies surrounding a person at any particular time, and a thorough understanding of the natal chart itself means the astrologer is well placed to advise on future trends - but not to tell you the name of the person you will marry, or what the lottery numbers next week will be! Sorry! I am a triple Pisces - Sun, Moon in Pisces with Pisces Ascendant. What's the significance of this? Well, clearly you'll exhibit the traits of these placings individually. When combined, these placings will mean that you are extremely intuitive and compassionate, emotional and fluid. Your reactions to just about everything will be based on emotion, rather than intellect or logic. Sentimental, moody, easily moved and prone to worry, but blessed with a fine imagination and psychic insight. In your particular case, however, Venus is in Aquarius - this indicates that when it comes to love, you are not quite so gullible as a heavy Pisces emphasis might otherwise suggest. Although you are dreamy and romantic, you also require a certain amount of intellectual rapport and individual freedom within a relationship. 'Triples' like this are not common, although not extraordinarily unusual either. The exact interpretation would depend on your time of birth - depending on the time, your Sun and Moon could both be in the first house, or both in the 12th house, or one in each, all of which imply subtle differences in how these energies work in your individual astrological makeup. I have recently met the most wonderful man, who coincidentally has the same birthday as me, but a different year. What is the astrological significance of this? This is a cute coincidence, especially in romantically involved couples - but it has no greater astrological significance than if the partners did not share the same birthday, I'm afraid. In your particular case, using the birth details you provided, I can see that just about the only astrological detail you share is the Sun in Taurus. Your Moon is in Gemini, whereas his is in Leo. Your Ascendant is Cancer, whereas his is likely to be Scorpio, Sagittarius or Capricorn. His Venus, Mercury and Mars are all in Aries, whereas yours are in different signs. Even most of the slower moving planets have changed signs in the years between your birthdays. If your birthday was the same day of the same year, especially in the same city or small geographic area, there would clearly be a much greater similarity between the charts. People born on the same day, same year and same time are termed 'time twins', whether or not they share a birth place, and there has been much research into this fascinating phenomenon. In your case, however, the sharing of birthdays has no significance beyond making it a joyful double celebration! My Moon is at 2 degrees Sagittarius on the 4th house cusp. I've been told that this placement is 'out of bounds' - what does this mean?
