Astrologically, Mars is a planet of action and energy. Always combative, and often aggressive, this planet teaches us much about our self-assertion, positivity and haste. Astrological Facts about Mars
Mars, like all planets, can express its energies for better or for worse, depending upon the aspects it receives, and its sign placing. Mars is our source of aggression and anger, but also our source of sexual passion and desire. It can make us rude, abrupt and impatient, but it can also inspire us to tremendous courage, bravery and leadership. When Mars is afflicted, or placed in a normally gentle sign such as Pisces, all this energy can become frustrated and pent-up, leading to possible psychological blockages or explosive tantrums. Let's take a brief look at how Mars energy operates through the various zodiac signs. Mars Through The Signs Mars in Aries: Very assertive, sexual and energetic, with a quick temper and a tendency towards impulsive action. Can be rude and aggressive. Mars in Taurus: Warm and sensual sex drive, slow to anger but explosive once they get going! Determined, physically fit, good at sports. Mars in Gemini: Lots of intellectual energy, but may lack physical energy. Restlessness and irritability if independence is cramped. Light-hearted attitude towards sex. Mars in Cancer: Very fiercely protective of self and loved ones. Tenacity, caring sexual partner. Resentfulness may follow from sudden temper outbursts. Mars in Leo: Enormous enthusiasm for life, and strong creative urge. Sense of drama, with showing off likely. Quick temper but this individual is generally forgiving the longer term. Mars in Virgo: Very hard worker, needs to keep busy. Impatience of Mars is reduced. Possible unease with sex or lack of confidence. Mars in Libra: Not a very strong Mars placing, although takes the edge of Libran indecisiveness. Impulsive in love, which can lead to disappointments. Mars in Scorpio: Very strong sex drive, lots of energy put into any feelings of bitterness, resentment or hatred, to the extent that such feelings may take over life. Vengeful nature. Mars in Sagittarius: Lots of energy needs lots of physical exercise. Intellectually broad-minded, competitive edge increased. May take careless or unnecessary risks in pursuit of excitement. Mars in Capricorn: Energy channelled into ambition, and competitive streak emerges. Possible selfishness towards loved ones. Sex life taken very seriously. Mars in Aquarius: Extreme need for independence, and a lot of mental and emotional tension. Originality and scientific flair increased, as is the pioneering spirit. Mars in Pisces: Extremely emotional, perhaps uncontrollably so. Impractical. Good potential for creative expression, but this is often hindered by lack of confidence or uneven energy levels. Mars Through The Houses Mars' house position will show the area of life in which the individual invests the most energy. This may or may not be positive energy, depending on the sign placement and other supporting factors in the chart. Mars in 1st House: Physical vitality and self-expression are important. Mars in 2nd House: The accumulation of wealth and possessions is important to this person, as is the accumulation of material and emotional security. Mars in 3rd House: Lots of energy invested in communicating and in learning. Mars in 4th House: Home and the domestic environment are the focus for mars' energies, as well as children. Mars in 5th House: The sex life is very important, perhaps with lots of short term relationships. Creativity is also strong. Mars in 6th House: Health is a major focus for mars' energy, as is routine work - the enjoyment of it or the avoidance of it, depending! Mars in 7th House: Huge amounts of energy are put into finding and keeping a partner. Again, this could have a positive or negative effect on the individual's life. Mars in 8th House: Lots of energy is spent on investigating the occult, paranormal and the mysteries of life. Mars in 9th House: Travel and long term education are very important to this person, as is philosophy and the moral good (and his morals are not necessarily the same as anyone else's...) Mars in 11th House: Mars energy is focused on external friendship, or on humanitarian/charitable purposes, possibly at the expense of the close family. Mars in 12th House: This placing indicates a tremendous drive for self-knowledge and analysis. Secretive, with vivid fantasy life, and a genuine interest in counselling.
